The 2^nd round of the winter league and the team had some ground to make up after our poor showing in the last round. After sacking Henry for his abysmal drawing, Mark Poppleton got into the draw queue early hoping for a good draw, but it was nearly a repeat of our last draw!

It was my turn for the poor side of Hillview and my hopes for a peg with some space was dashed when I was handed p41, a peg that’s not normally in as it’s on the curve of the bank and you are virtually competing for the same bit of water with p40 and p42, particularly by the island.

Well, I’m not going to dwell on it too much as I had a skimmer after 90mins at 16m on maggot followed by a couple more and that was it. I couldn’t get a bite anywhere. A few silvers were being caught to my left, but I couldn’t catch over groundbait or micros long or over loose fed maggot short.

With 90mins remaining Dave Bruton (p41) only had a gudgeon, before catching 3 carp in 3 casts on the pellet feeder, leaving me as the only one not to have a carp. In the last hour I just sat it out on the straight lead either on corn or meat hoping for a carp to come round the island. They never did and I finished absolutely plumb last.

I have never caught so little at Todber. At least in the next round I will be in the better section of Hillview and hopefully in with the chance of catching some fish. My luck at the draw has got to change shortly as I have had 6 shockers from the last 7 matches.

As for the team our poor draw meant we had another disaster finishing 10^th again. Mark Poppleton has also been sacked from the draw!
