The blog is back

Since my last blog entry, to say life has been difficult would be an understatement.

Following a 5 week stay in hospital at the beginning of the year Sue's medical condition has been diagnosed as Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Fortunately her condition has improved, but whether she will fully recover is debatable and we are just taking 1 day at a time. We have been really touched by the messages of support and wish to thank everyone for their best wishes.

Work has also been difficult and a change of circumstances means the start of a new job next week.

As for the fishing... well I've been enjoying it, which has provided a useful distraction. Following a disastrous festival at Lands End in October confidence was really low. A long conversation with Trigger got me back on track, which I am very grateful for - Thanks for that! I had slipped back into old habits, over complicating things and generally not making the most of the pegs. With a simpler approach I started picking up more frequently almost immediately.

During the winter I fished a new venue to me, Hillview and have to say to I really enjoyed fishing for F1s, even managing a couple of decent individual results and a team win in a round of their Winter League.

I also had a successful winters campaign at one of my favourite venues Lands End, with 8 straight pickups in the opens, topped by a winning 144lb off peg 19. The Winter League was a little tougher though.  Having achieved 2nd, 3rd and 4th in previous years its a series I would love to win, however some early dodgy draws saw me targeting the silvers and was well chuffed to win the silvers league, including weights of 41lb from p7 and 26lb from p68. I not saying the fishing has all been plain sailing, but I prefer to focus on the positives.

With life now being a bit calmer I feel now is the time to re start the blog. I had considered not bothering, however a number of people have said they enjoyed my ramblings and offered encouragement to get it back up and running.
